Depending on how often you water the plant, fabric pots will last anywhere from 1 - 3 years. The frequency with which you water will affect the life of felt grow bags, along with the type of soil you use and the temperature.

Our fabric plant pots are made from a soft and easy-to-clean fabric and can be used for both indoors and outdoors gardening. They’re durable and look great. They can be easily cleaned or stored for later use. These root pouches work well and are suitable for plants in sunny spots.

Can you reuse fabric pots?

Yes, our fabric grow bags are reusable. You can reuse the best fabric planters by washing them with organic soap and water, hanging them dry, and continue to use them. We do not recommend putting cloth grow pots in the dryer as it will shorten their life span.

The durable, breathable cloth fabric retains moisture and the dark colour helps reduce bleaching. Use black fabric bag to grow tomatoes, autoflower, weed, vegetables, herbs, fruit trees and flowers. Reuse again and again, until it's completely worn out - which we tell you to do in the care instructions.

Cloth grow bags don't split like plastic pots because they’re made of fabric that breaths unlike plastic which cannot breathe. For even longer life, we recommend hand washing felt planter bags in warm soapy water – this will also prolong their lifespan as well as make non woven grow bags easier to store before use.

Fabric garden pots should be washed and dried before being filled with soil. Take care when removing the plants as the smartpot may tear from getting caught on the plant roots or other objects underground.

How to water fabric planters?

The fabric pot is designed to allow you to water from the top of the pot. Pour water on the pot, and let it seep through the fabric. Water will not pool at the bottom of the smart pot, giving you an easy way to tell when your plant needs more water.

To water, simply add water to the top of the smartpots until it reaches about an inch from the bottom edge. As you’re watering through each day, do your best not to overwater, which can lead to bacteria growth or mold. Instead, check the soil regularly and only when it feels dry between your fingers.

How to clean fabric grow bags?

You can clean fabric planter pots with a scrubbing brush. Clothes detergent or soap infused with oxygen bleach works well to remove stains, such as tea leaves and coffee grounds.

If they get dirty, simply take your fabric pots to the sink and scrub with soap and water. Let it air dry and store it away until next time! It is recommended to wash the cloth planter bags in cold water and dry naturally away from direct sunlight.

What is the best soil for root pouch?

The best soil for fabric planter is a mixture of horticultural perlite and vermiculite. Both are lightweight materials that help to improve drainage and also retain moisture. A general rule is to start experimenting with different options until you find the perfect mix for your plants.

It's best not to use 100% garden soil for your cloth pots. This will prevent the drainage from developing a crust, which will cut down on water and air circulation to your plants. Instead, choose a lightweight potting mix with fertilizer and sand added into the mix.

We recommend coconut coir and peat moss as the best soil for fabric flower pots. They're made from natural materials and will last for years. While you can use any well-draining soil in your fabric grow bags, a good option is coconut coir.

It has major advantages over regular garden soil: it holds water, but doesn’t offer plants much nutrition – which means they need more fertilizer and get more bang for your plants. You can also add some perlite for extra drainage, since water won't stand still in smart plant pot.

Can I use garden soil in smart pot?

Yes, you can use garden soil in fabric planters. Just make sure the soil is well-draining so that water and nutrients remain available to your plants. You should also make sure not to overfill the fabric planter bags as this can impede drainage, possibly causing roots to rot.

You can use general potting soil with cloth pots, but we recommend something a bit more hearty. A mix of activated charcoal, sand and clay works well. Remove the liner along with any of the small rocks or gravel that might be in there, then build up the edges with your new potting soil.
